Happy Deepavali -fire Crackers ?

Hi all,
WISHING U ALL AND YOUR FAMLIY MEMBERS A VERY VERY HAPPY DEEPAVALI.
Well it is time for those fire crakers and sweets, and oil lamps.
Personally i am against about these firecrakers.( ya i am little scared too ) mainly becoz I get very upset when I think about those children who is working at Sivakashi for making these firecrakers.
Then Pollution , noice, accidents etc..are also the reasons for banning the firecrakers at my home.
What do u all think about it..? Fire crackers should be there or not for Deepavali?
Any way happy deepavali to all of you once again..
take care and keep smiling.

I would love to ban fire crackers. But that would just be the start of my tyranny. I have incredibly sensitive hearing, and I detest loud noises. However, I realize that noise pollution is unavoidable in India, so I have to deal with it. Laugh all you like, but I frequently wear ear plugs when I go outside in Indian cities. There's nothing like riding in an open auto or walking on the side of the road and having your eardrums blasted by an impatient truck or car driver. Has anyone else here noticed that the Tata Sumo SUV has one of the loudest horns of any Indian passenger vehicle?

November 4th- The Indian festival of lights is celebrated with grandeur in every home complete with the burning of fireworks, rich food and new clothes. However, this period is the worst time for the 50,000 to 100,000 child workers working in the 2,700 to 3,000 match and fireworks units in Sivakasi, Tamil Nadu and the innumerable other child workers in other firework factories in India. The Sivakasi firework factories alone produce 90% of India's fireworks and 75% of it's matches. There are as many as 6000 unregistered "safety-match" industries in and around Sivakasi.

Happy Deepdiwali to all my Hindu friends on the forum. You will be pleased to learn that this year the NSW Government has decided to have special floodlights on the State Parliament building in Sydney for the duration of Diwali.

I'm confused this year: is it tonight or tomorrow night that one leaves a light burning in the night?
