Getting started

Hei!
I am just starting to organise my trip to India... And to be honest I don't really know where to start...
Any suggestions of good travel agencies in London? Must sees and so on? I am going by myself, so safety may be an issue, but on the other hand, I do want get out of the more touristy parts ...

Hey look for tickets in the newspapers and go get your visa. Than you should have the "Havrex" shot (vacine) I think its really the only one you need.
Pack lite, you dont need a sleepingbag, you could bring a hammock and use it as a sheat sometimes for a filty bead. I would say pack Light, but it does depend where in India your going... I wouldn bring much, passport, visa, maybe camera, tooth brush, flip flops, a fiew underwear a couple of tank tops, s couple of t-shirts. One warmer, but still light, woolen sweater or something like that... then you can buy blankets and lunghis (sarongs) in india etc. They will save you the extra weight of a boring towell.
FInally buy a good thin moneybelt in a hiking shop and cary your travel cheques and pasport in it, scan your passport and write down you checknumbers than send the sanned passport pic and the travell cheque numbers to a hotmail adress, that way you can print it out and use it if you ever loose it...
