Fishing

Can anybody recommend any good agencies or tour operators that conduct fishing trips in and around Bangalore? And any other info on South India Fishing trips would be more than helpful e.g best places, prices etc.

Sorry I haven't got an answer for you Mike but I also want to find out about fishing in India. Is gear available to hire? How much would a days fishing (river or sea) cost? Also do you need a licence or anything? If I were to buy a little rod could I put it in any old river or do you need permission etc..?

Mike, your best option is Jungle Lodges and Resorts, in partucular their camps at Galibore and Bheemeshwari. The mahseer fishing is good. Here's the link:

In reply to Gid's post, yes you need a licence. For availability of gear you need to check with the lodge, but for the most part gear is unavailable to rent or buy.

You can also contact the Coorg Wildlife Society, they control a stretch of the river Cauvery at Valnoor in Coorg.
