Thumbs up

{DAVEY]we stayed at the Mster Paying Guest House, cost 40 to 50 IR to got to Connaught palce, its quite if there is such a word for delhi and you are surrounded by prefessional businesses not shops with touts, when you step outside on you first day it helps, other gustes are all travellers who get together and have breakfast and pass on usefull advise. the owners ( now friends) Ushi and Avnish Puri are great and help like you would not believe truly professional and genuine about helping travelers

I stayed at this Guest House as well, but my circumstances were totally different! I was ripped off by the taxi driver who told me that the place I initially wanted to go to had "closed". After much angst, I insisted that I be taken to the Master Paying Guest House. They were full, but Avnish so very kindly put me up in the dining room for the night and the next day offered me "Nandi" - his wife's meditation room, upstairs in that lil bamboo enclosure. I couldn't have had anything nicer. It's a wonderful guest house and HIGHLY recommended. True 'desi' hospitality of the very best.

Geez,I hope they're not changing the colonial ambience too much. And let's hope the Kingfisher's remain icy cold.Shallow is my middle name. But in all honesty magindi look for a rooftop bar to have a few drinks while watching the world go by.The double benefit is dutch courage from the grog and obversation of the street before your foray into it.Perhaps you can let us know a good substitute for Gaylords.
