Festivals for 2004
Festivals for 2004
I was searching for some kerala race festivals in September for my clients and ran into this spiffy PDF that the Indian Tourism board has published on 2004 festival dates in India and even has it categorized by states!

I did a quick search on IM and did not see a list of festival dates for 2004 so I thought I would share, if its been posted elsewhere sorry for the repost. Enjoy.

I looked for Divali also known as Dewali, couldn't find it so done a quick Google search and found it is also known as Deepavali.
I then found it on the list, it is on 12th November, I've heard the celebrations go on for a week (in Gujarat), does anyone know if the celebrations start on the 12th or end on the 12th.
Excellent list.

Diwali or Deepavali this year begins from Nov.10 and lasts till Nov.14. 10th is "Dhanteras", 11th is "Narak Chaturdashi"; the most significant day of Diwali; 12th is "Laxmi Pujan", 13th is the Jain New Year and 14th is "Bhaiyya Duj" !!Some over-enthusiastic people will start the fireworks even before the 10th and continue after the 14th.
Whoever said money can't buy happiness didn't know where to shop !

ODD
Pelting festival is indeed an odd one and glad the tourism office didnt add to the recommended list ashish!

My favorite Mangoes are called Thotapuri Mangoes (the raw green ones with chilli powder/salt in the stands) so please have a few for me. We dont get that variety in the U.S. Its also called Kilimuku (parrot nose? mango).
Enjoy the mango season in Delhi while I enjoy the cherry season in Seattle!
