Favourite Place in India

North, South, East or West what's your favourite place in India, and why?

South, becuase I am from there!

It's hard to say, I know we covered some of this before, but it's hard to narrow it down to one place.

I would say anyplace that is quiet enough where I can live out my fantasy of sleeping in late everyday. Yes, this is my goal in life.

Diu is good because I can sleep late, get lots of seafood, and cheap beer, and can just wander around with no particular place to go or thing to do.

On the flipside, I still like the city life of Bangalore (though I haven't been there in awhile). Wandering the streets, finding good shops, and then ending my night when the pubs close.

We should make a thread that is just the opposite, "what is your least favorite place and why?", there is still plenty of places where I am more than happy to just pass on through.

I know we had this question in the early days of indiamike.com but I'm not sure how many people read through the back posts. There have been several hundred new members since then and I thought that this thread might encourage them to post.

I think you have done a great job with this site and I know that you can't beg people to post so I will do it for you.

Please, please, all you people who only read this forum, just post occasionally. There is a wide range of topics and also this thread (yak-yak-yak) can include anything about India you would like to talk about. This forum partly began because of the lack of control of abusive behaviour in another place which I have recently observed is still going on. That's not what indiamike is about.
It's about people asking questions about India and getting friendly and informative answers.

Lastly, a special request to the Indian members on the forum-we non-Indian members of the forum have a lot to learn from you about India, so please post.

I'm trying to get a rating of all sights in India. Currently based on 19 votes I've got the following ranking:

1. Taj Mahal (29 pt)
2. Andaman Islands (16 pt)
3. Old Delhi (15 pt)
4. Hampi (12 pt)
5. Kerala (10 pt)

Miniature train to Coonor from Ooty. So that my favorite place..

Hampi...Magical. Wish I would have had more time to stay.

It's a toss up between Varanasi and Ranakpur. Ranakpur was quiet and relaxing and in Varanasi we meet some wonderful people.
