Post The Indian chococlate

I agree with your list of Indian flavor ice creams but did you know that there is actually a chocolate botique in Delhi that offers flavors such as paan chocolate, which has all the ingredients of an Indian paan; with chocolate added in good measure.
Or Tulsi (Basil) chocolate and even imli flavored chocolate.
Does this list of chocolates excite your palate?

Hi Ira, I have heard about those flavors but have not tried them. I'd be tempted to try the paan without the chocolate, but imli I don't know. I ocassionaly doenjoy the coconut. I have also heard about the Chillies Icecream, but haven't tasted it either.

Trust me ladyvetphd if u havent tasted that drated Green chilli ice-cream or the Bhelpuri flavour ice-cream (Both availible at Bachelors Ice-cream and Juice Centre, Mumbai) ....u dont wanna know how it tastes...In bit adventerous mood i tried them and it was yuckkkkkkkkk

Try Zaffran and Royal Banana flavour Kulfi at Kulfi Centre, Girgaum Chowpaty, Just opposite Cafe Ideal and Cream Centre
they are amazing....this place is there since 1960 and still going strong.

Zaffran - Saffron + Pistachio + Almonds

as mentioned before have eaten Tulsi( os Basil) flavoured Kulfi in Kolkata....again unbelivabley amazing

oh how could i have forgotten to mention this:

In a marriage in Bangalore, i had Sandalwood flavoured Ice-cream, now it was a unique flavour more to do with the sense of smell than taste...it tasted midway between saffron, mint and cold vanilla.
truly unique...

Vibhu
Your red hot icon says everything about the chilli icecream. Thanks for the warning, I'll stay away from it. And saffron/almond pistachio are always wonderful with everything

When in season try Kala Jamun ( currently availible) at Natural's ice-cream chain in Mumbai, Surat and Pune.

In winters their Guava is amazing.

So Vibhu which brand of ice creams are yyour favorite.

I used to think, that Mango from Baskin Robin's was the best till I tasted Naturals Mango and that was out of this world.
I like DInshaw's Kesar pista and Anjeer Badam, I hate all Amul and Kwality -wallis icecreams. In teh US iused to love the Borden plain vanilla with real vanilla, the almond pralines were another favorite and so was cookie dough ice cream

Till a few years back Amul had this flavour called honeydew-Melon , now they stopped producing it but it was amazing

Natural's fresh fruit flavours - Kala Jamun, Guava, Strawberry, Mulberry, coconut.

Vadilal- Royal pistachio

Can't remember the name of that Australian company that produces - real vanilla flavour with vanilla bean particles in it

Rather than going for brands i am more fond of independent eateries where they serve their unique fare...if u ever get time try out -

Rocky Road at 5 Spices, FORT - ok not an ice-cream but a dessert with ice-cream ( Chocolate )

I am not particular about brands either, but go for the taste, While I don't like Amul Icecreams, I just love their butter over every other brand in the world and also their masti dahi and chaas.
I love eating icecreams made at some joints using the bucket and ice-the old fashioned way.

Will definetely try the Kala Jamun next time

Personally, irrespective of the flavour, I think Indian ice cream sucks...not a patch on international brands like Hagen Daaz etc. The sole exception is some restaurants who make their own ice cream like Big Chill in Delhi.

oh if u ever chance to be in Delhi then do goto the place called Big Chill, has two branches one in Khan Market and another in Greater Kailash....
it makes the ice-cream with same old method of buckets churned in Salted Ice...

amazing flavours ...try their lemon ice-cream or hard italian ice-creams ...u'll love them

In late September last year i had Lemon Ice-cream at Swati Snacks in Mumbai ...but since then havent seen it being served their but it was smashing...
