Sat in the same row as this lady who boarded the Vizag Chennai flight quite late. Insisted on having those awful goggles on all the time...kept to herself reading some paperback...refused all eats and drinks and was the first to leave the plane at Chennai.
Later the face became more familiar...Urmila Matondkar was her name.

I met Shahid Kapoor at an ATM in Mumbai last year, glad I can finally boast about it to some people who might know who he is! He's short.
I also met the famous Vinay Verma in Delhi! |

Prakash padukone and Milka Singh, both were chief guests of sports events I was taking part in, but that was ages ago. Syed Modi many times, he was such a down to earth person and used to play basketball with us after his practice. His murder affected us very badly and sadly no one was brought to book. Also have met many Indian hockey team players from the past but I wonder if people will even remember the names.

Megan McCormick, Ian Wright 2. Lance Armstrong 3. Braddy Barr - The NG Croc Chap 4. Bryan Adams 5. Pete Sampras (he is such a down to earth and cool chap..of course a great player he was) 6. David Beckham has any IMer met any of these celebs....Megan atleast....am a great great fan of hers.. he has the most beautiful smile i have ever seen of any female on this damn Earth. http://www.meganmccormick.com/pages/113_jpg.htm Last edited by amyl : Sep 23rd, 2005 at 15:24. i'm almost thinking that all famous indians are cricket players, actors or politicians.
i met balkrishna doshi, one of your most accomplished architects. 78 and still practicing, charismatic and enthusiastic. a living example that following your passion keeps you young. |

Goldie Hawn
Walked into Hotel Imperial in Delhi to have lunch and there is Goldie Hawn, Kurt Russel and their typical-ipod-listening teenage son (don't know his name). My colleague who was with me rushed up to her and thanked her for running her Starlight charity for disabled children. I mumbled to Hawn that she should enjoy her stay in India and she replied, "I have been here many times." Lesson learnt: don't make inane conversations with celebrities!

sorry ikuru, i don't really beleive your story.
i've seen the dalia lama but no one else of "celebrity" status. i'd like to bump into richard gere while in dharamsala though. i have some questions to ask him (and no, not about the rodent ) i'd also like to see shah rukh khan, of course, and i'd like to have a rousing conversation with arundhati roy. i am not sure who else since i do not really know many of the indian celebs. it would be interesting to see a hollywood actor in india, though matt damon would not be top of my list, though he does have that cute dimple when he smiles... as for ethan hawke, my brother strongly resembles him, so, no. i'd love to bump into johnny depp however, so maybe i should hang out in mumbai when he works on that film he is going to do there. i used to be kinda ga-ga over jude law, but after he slept with his nanny while in a relationship with someone else, i kinda lost interest. i'm glad that both his former partner and uma left those cheating scoundrels.

Vijay Armitraj
So I walk in to the Hyatt Polo Lounge and there is Vijay Armitrage. You know
top ten tennis pro, James Bond star, and movie producer etc. I introduce myself as a big fan and he invites me to join his party. Class "A" gentleman full of stories and one-liners etc..... Then the light bulb suddenly goes on ... its my big chance ... no no no; not to take him on in a tennis match as I am not quite good enough ....(he beat McEnroe remember??) .... The Movies ..get in the Movies .... so I ask him do ya have any work for a good looking actor with veeeerrrrrry little actual acting experience? And with out missing a beat in a rapid fire retort and impish grin he says YES but it will have to be in a horror flic. ![]()

My list of famous people that I've met in India is very short, just Tommi Makinen (at the Taj Mahal).
The list of famous people I've met outside of India is much much longer (one of the perks of my old job). |

I met Jason Lewis (Samantha's model boyfriend in "Sex and the City").
They were shooting a Hollywood movie in Jaisalmer (''Searching for Sara'', ''Rajapur'' or something something...) inside the fort, 7 months ago. My boyfriend took a picture of Jason and me, I wanted to send the picture to my friends to make them jealous (ha ha). ![]()
