Embroidered badges
Embroidered badges
Hi everyone,
I was wondering if they had those embroidered badges in India? I collect them (nerd alert lol) and sew them on blanket of places I've been. Have ones from NYC and Italy but would it be something to be found in India?
I'd like to get ones with the cities names one - Jaipur, Mumbai etc but even better if I can find ones with Taj Mahal or national parks too.
Otherwise are pin badges common?
Thanks, strange question I know!

perhaps the terms you are using may not be the same in india...can you post some pics of what a typical 'embroidered badges' & 'pin badges' looks like? that might help suggest something.
I wondered why I had no replies
A pin badge - well similar to a badge you get on your birthday? Like a womans decorative broach?
And an embroidered badge is like a sew on patch. Finding it hard to describe them. You might have them sewn on uniforms if you were in the police or army. They are very popular in Europe and USA, not sure if they are so available in India.

We call them "buttons" in the Netherlands, obviously taken from the English but I'm not sure if they're called so there really. Like so, a button (indeed, usually small button-sized and on a pin, tho' can be larger) and a sew-on badge or patch or whatever they may be called (can be smaller to larger), respectively (at least I reckon that's what Fing Fang means). I would suppose you'd at least find them in the touristy/backpacker areas in India's main cities, but don't look for them so don't know really.

you will get the badges that can be pinned on a dress. at most of the touristy places, souvenir shops would be selling them. even at airport, you might get them, but most would be taj mahal only...i don't recall seeing any specific to states, but you are likely to get some with tiger or elephant.
the embroidered badges here are mostly limited to what schools make kids put on the blazers during winter. i have not seen any with an 'tourist' focus. if you go to any school uniform shop, they might help direct you to the place where such badges are made & that might be a good start...
Cloth patches found in gift shops; or greeting card/Hallmark shop.
