Electrical adaptor plugs

We are going to the main tourist spots in the north in Rajasthan, Uttar Pradesh and Madhya Predesh and Delhi.

What electrical outlets are we likely to find? Magellans travel suppies shows we need their plugs F,C. and D. Which one(s) are in the north? Should we bring our own, or do hotels [3 and 4 star and heritage] have them available?

Hotels always have the Indian style F and sometimes also the British style C outlets. Don't forget it's 230V, not 110V like in the US, so only take appliances you can switch to 230V or else they'll go bang.

You can pick up adapter plugs for Rs.25 quite readily there so I wouldn't bother buying one in advance.

Thanks for the info.
We only have one electrical item that we use and it is dual voltage.
Are the F plugs really only Rs. 25??? Are they grounded? Magellans seems to say that's all that's available here in the US.

They really are that cheap! In the electrical bazaar in Old Delhi, my husband bought an adapter for his electric razor (why he needed one in India, I'll never know...) for about 30 Rs.

Magellan's is wrong. You can buy the two-prong plugs at Radio Shack or your local hardware store.

Thanks. I checked Radio Shack here in Vermont and they only had the " "standard European plug" - Magellans D - the one with the two round plugs. They didn't have what Magellans shows as F the one Magellans says is for India.

Is F a D without being grounded???

The D is the European plug. It'll fit into the Indian sockets but a little loosly as the Indian plugs have slightly thicker prongs.

I'm sure you are worrying needlessly about this... just ask at your hotel, and if they don't have one they can always send a boy out to get one for you.
