"... i know my motherland is poor.. and that also because some of her sons are so greedy that they want to starve their mother and keep her like a slave..."

Given the way the western markets have melted this past month - all due to greed - maybe India isn't any poorer than the US - rather, it admits to the reality instead of hiding it behind glossy images.

India is a country of myriad hues.Every 100 kms. the landscape changes, also gets changed the language, the faces, the thinking, the gods, the food so on and so forth.

God has painted this canvas with every color possible.Richest of the rich and poorest of the poor live together in this chosen land.

If one has not seen India, he is not familiar with the full creativity of god.

Er, well, if you look close enough, you can have the same experience in many a place

(Say if you move every 100 kms. in Europe, you won't find it very much the same, either. And there's the poor here, except most of us tend to ignore and so overlook them. Less out in the open or at least in Western Europe, granted.)

North or South America, wherever, not much different, either. E.g. Georgia is really nothing like New York City, they might as well be two different countries.

Could happen in some really outback places, though you'd be unlikely to ever come across them. If so, I guess if anything it would indicate a measure of safety, for you.

More likely that was some policeman or soldier they were looking at. They'll regularly and openly be carrying firearms. More likely still, they were just telling you nonsense.

Hugh? I must be missing something, or it's time to log off.

(C'mon, Nick, don't make us read back over 66 pages. What's a hugh? Funny typo somewhere, I suspect? Or, some advanced modern hand weapon?)

(As for those silly American hugs, you'll indeed likely be largely freed of them whilst there --> Except for when amongst silly US NRI's, of course )

Non Resident Indians- an 'official' term for income tax and other such use.

(one common alternate expanded form of that acronym- used often in connection with NRI money in the days that India had huge foreign exchange issues, was Non Reliable Indians)

India has the second highest civilian gun arsenal in the world & it wouldn't shock me if I were told that a certain demographic were carrying handguns for personal protection.

However, I think I'd fall dead of shock or better yet laughter if I saw one dressed in period gunslinger garb.

Was there any mention of spurs, bandanas, chaps &/or 10-gallon hats?
