Take your pick. Both are widely accepted so no major difference.

Due to the way currency trading etc works there is no difference in exchange rates etc.

Take the one you're familiar with! It's bad enough doing the mental conversion to you home currency, without having to work out your spend in another currency! I'm saying that, as you are from UK, take Sterling: keep life simple

And even if you don't plan to use it, take at least one credit card/debit card. That way you can always get cash from an ATM in case you loose travellers' cheques

1 $ (USA) = 43.7 INR
1 £ (GBP) = 81.1 INR
1 € (Euro) = 55.3 INR
Basically whatever you are comfortable with.
I live in Spain, so I would go for the €€€ traveler cheques.

Simply put take the currency you don't have to convert, in your case that looks like GBP both currencies are widely accepted so you'll have no problems with Pounds in India!!

But the € isn't much better either. But living in a € country, I will have to opt for that.
