Question Diwali in Rajasthan or straight to Goa

Hi
I have just booked my flight to Mumbai , arrive 03:00 23rd Oct. Iwas planning to head straight to Goa before it gets busy and relax for a couple of weeks before heading slowly north to Nepal. Now I've found that Diwali starts 23/24 Oct and the best place to be is Rajasthan. That means heading north and and almost three times the mileage before I get to Goa.
What Im trying to get at here is , Is it worth the diversion or is Diwali just as good in Goa/somewhere on route, even maybe Diwali in Mumbai. This is my first trip to india so any advice would be most thankfully received.

Cheers
psiphi .

Diwali should be great in Mumbai ... it's not at all necessary to travel to Rajasthan before Goa.

Why not save some time and try the Island of Diu instead of Goa.

It is located on the southern tip of Gujarat and is a laid-back kind of place that gets virtualy no tourists, it's the perfect place to hire a pushbike or motorbike and just explore, there are great beaches nearby and the booze is the cheapest I've come across in India.

Diu and Ice Cream

The Cave's in Diu

Hoka Resort, Nagoa Beach, Diu

Samrat Hotel, Diu
