Divali has Started
At 3.45 am
And I knew I should have got to bed early, because people are already lighting those damn firecrackers, so no sleep tonight for me! Maybe its for the best: one way to get over my time-zone lag, my body still being on UK time and just getting tired. Dogs are joining in now!

Now Divali has started, Happy Divali to all! Kids opposite have been doing firecrackers for the last four days already and now the big bombs are starting - and since weather is cooler, can't even use a/c to cut out the noise!! Dogs also problem here - Mr K up at 4.30 a.m. shooing them off. They can be a long way away and still noisy..
Nick noticed the time of your post - you must have your computer on all day and night!! Maybe after jetlag you will settle back to 'normal times'. Short OT -Hope your house was o.k. after floods ( in the news a couple of weeks ago)

Almost a week back a neighbourhood brat(whose mother thinks he is very cute) carried out the cute act of bursting a huge cracker at 11 PM & I knew that Diwali is coming.
The frenzy of shopping seen yesterday was something that one has to see to believe. Sudden increase in disposal income has fuled spending. The white goods manufacturers are grining ear to ear. Any way Happy Diwali to all friends here. |

Yes, I slept, or dozed a bit, up to 11.00am. It is very difficult to change time zones when there is no pressing need, ie things to do.
By tonight the noise should become one continuous sound like thunder --- that is much easier to sleep through! Happy Divali to all ![]() |

And you know what?! We have a Public Holiday here! I doubt if there is any other country that considers Deepavali outside India.
Alas! The beach club is also closed and so probably I will waste this day off by mall-hopping ![]() Little India here is full of ppl, lots of rubbish at places, some loud, really loud promotion offers, honking, restaurants over flowing......just had a sneaky dinner last night and the chaos was enuf for me. Not to be there before the festival is over. But on another note that fuss and choas there gives me a Indian feel ... but yes Nick, no fire crackers here! Illegal I heard!Wishing you all a very Happy Deepavali! ![]()
