Hi mercedes10:
just mix and match, with your pant you can wear Indian "Kurthi"its dress short top.Unlike Salwar suits its easy when travel.
If you staying centre Delhi then i suggest Janpath market you can try, cotton tops ,for Rs 150 to Rs300 you will get.
Summer now its all new stock ,you get wide variety.

Happy travelling.

Answers to your questions AllenM

1. Read this thread

2. No!

3. Definitely not!

4. Only if you have a warped sense of humour! It's fun for onlookers though!

Do you qualify for club membership?

No, I don't qualify. Two months in India and no poo flung on my shoe. I went to Palika bazar at least four or five times last summer. No shoe-poo. In fact, no shoe-poo anywhere in India. I thought the scam had run it's course and was out of vogue. Why didn't people try to slime me? That's a serious question. If we could figure out how I kept away from it, we could possibly bust this scam. I wore trekking boots. Did the boots make the difference?

Depends on the time of day, poo throwers take a lunch and dinner break also, and it only happens at one corner coming around the inner circle at CP heading towards Palika Bazaar.

When is your next trip? We can probably arrange something for you if you would like the experience

How much will this authentic experience be costing? I went all prepared and I was let down. Maybe the poop flingers were all on holiday. I was actually looking forward to it happening! Am I weird for my enjoyment of dealing with the touts, scammers and taxi drivers?

It's free with your membership here.

Maybe we can have one of the local delhi guides on the site here arrange some sort of fake tour where you get wheeled around to shop after shop until your head is spinning and the final stop will be a ceremoniously placed dollop of poo on the shoe. Just for the experience for those enjoying this twisted kind of hobby.

Oh and the tour has to include the 'hotel is full' routine also.

Yes! and all for free! Membership has its rewards, just like AMEX says. I thought it was strange to enjoy whiling away some time in witless banter with touts. Who knew. It was one of my biggest fears when I arrived on my first trip.

Great, next trip I'm going to meet the Father Of All Touts and the Taxiwallah From Beyond and they're going to tag team me.
