Recently I was forced to pay for a twenties pack of Gold Flake for an office colleague who is an A grade bummer and was shocked to discover that it costs Rs. 80 ! Shocked because that's a mere Rs. 20 cheaper than India Kings which is smoked by the more discerning and distinguished like me...

Thats for a King Size one (read normal size .). There are small ones available too, at Rs.27 for a pack of 10.

Beyond that there are cheaper brands too, I guess starting from Rs.5 for a pack of10.

so says them folks of themselves who smoke bidi's as well

you want good ciggy's mell - buy a packet of wills navy cut - and there aint no looking back!
pack of 20's = Rs 68/= only.

lil trivia: someone from VST [creators of charminar's] told me once...
the only brand nobody, ITC OR VST target when bringing out new cigarettes - are the Wills [navy cut] smokers.
them begin with wills and end with wills... kinda made for each other

:brishti

yes yes i know wills is an ITC brand - but within ITC - the brand upmanship may as well make them into individual corporates.

Aah yes ! Wills Navy Cut! Reminds me of a friend who responded thus to one who tried to dissuade him from smoking :

It's not that my will power is weak. It's just that Wills power is stronger.

I was quite loyal to Wills Navy cut during my smoking days ( a good 13 years btw ). An occasional Gold Flake here and there too.

But I stopped 8 years back and havent regretted it.
miles to go....

If you go up the hills, you may find a cigarette called 'Jet' 20 for Rs.30 and it says 'Imported' lol... They usually were sold in a white pack and not gold. Please note that they were fake but were good nevertheless. I remember trying them though am a Marlboro Loyalist.

You may also want to try Panama (they are filter-less though), I think a pack of 10 for Rs.10 or something.

I have mostly seen these brands in small road-side shops in the hills.

Bidi's

Smokers, if you wanna taste real flavour, try an Indian BIDI ! These are handrolled in a real leaf, the flavour is awesome and its dirt cheap !!!

Steady, You forgot to mention though:

1. It is more harmful than a cigarette and has more nicotine, tar, carbon monoxide and class A carcinogens.

2. That it causes 200,000+ tuberculosis deaths each year in India

3. Has no filter and doesnt go through any checks, is not regularised, does not have a tax stamp usually and is mostly made by kids under the age of 14 years.

If the OP or anybody else wants to have a beedi just for trying it out, I'd whole heartedly tell them to do so but please dont get addicted to it. I'm not advocating that smoking cigarettes will make one live longer as its equally harmful. But if I am a smoker, I'd rather smoke cigarettes than Beedi's.

By the way, You can try the herbal beedi's if you can find them.

Cheers

Wills Navy Cut it is for me. Been doing this bad habit for 32 years - and the doctors in the US tell me that my lungs are clean. Maybe it is my very high metabolism doing its trick

Nevertheless, I tell folks who are young and want to try this nasty habit - never do it. It is addictive and not healthy.

I have given up the idea of giving up the habit.

Cheers
