i am a big fan of anthony bourdain. he manages to be witty about food - not someting you find in other food based shows. i actually never look at his programs from a purely food angle. i try to enjoy the other stuff he does as well, like the chat he had with nandan bagchi (a major foodie and a food columnist and one of the best drummers india) about the doors and rolling stones just after a game of cricket (OP you are right, he never gets any better at it) over a bag of bhel puri. he does the same thing in other places as well. my particular favourites are his vietnam and malaysia episodes. this guy is cool for a 52 year old.
and many people have said it already - hsi programs certainly dont attempt to be a comprehensive guide about all the food available in the region - its just about his experiences narrated from a culinary reference frame. i concur. |
