Can I ship things home instead of trying to
carry everything all over my trip? I really hate that! Is it reliable to ship in the mail. Are there FedEx stores in most(any) cities? Can I ship from hotels? Am I stuck carrying everything all over hell and back?
Thanks |

im pretty sure you wont ever find fedex, however DHL is in every city and is the most reliable way to ship things home.

I shipped a large box back to the U.S. from Delhi using FedEx (yes, there's an office in Delhi, run by some very nice Sikh gentlemen). Worked fine. It was a mixture of extra clothing and toiletries and souvenirs (but not expensive ones). Everything showed up intact about a week later, just after me. I think it cost about Rs5000-6000.

If your stay is not going to be very long, why haul your furniture and bedding... stay in a hotel instead.
In the price you'll pay to get it to India and send them back, you can buy local furniture in India. err... not sure what/why basic stuff has to be brough from the US??? ![]()

Sorry, On reflection...
I wasn't very clear. My question pertained to things I will buy along the way, i.e., souvenirs and things. I didn't plan to bring things with me, or buy really large objects like funiture or whatever.
thanks for the reply! |

If cost is an issue and time isn't, Speed Post by Indian Postal service is the best option. Try this International postage calculator. However, speed post isn't very reliable to ship stuff to India.
