Why did I not see this thread before. Wow! finally a solution that appears feasible on mass scale for this issue. I think this needs to be publicised more and all govt. agencies should be requested to start this. I sent an email to the couple.
yes let's all try and publicize this as much as possible.

Can the moderators make this a sticky so that more people view it.

This is a really good good-news item, but stickies are for stuff that is good reference material or addresses FAQs about travel in India.

They have to be made sparingly, or the whole point is lost.

I think this is great news. Now that I am here and see all the trash I can only wonder how beautiful it could be here if it weren't for all the plastic everywhere. And I feel sorry for all the creatures on sea and land trying to survive such an onslaught of litter.
