buying a guitar

namaste everyone,

i will be in india july-august this year, traveling to the north, himachal pradesh mainly. i really want to travel with a guitar but i don't want to bring my guitar from home, since i care about it too much....
my questions are: is there a good guitar shop in delhi in which i can find a suitable accustic guitar or at least a classic one ? can someone tell me anything about the quality of guitars that are sold there ? the prices ?
i would be happy if anyone can share their experiences about traveling with a guitar, you know, is it a burdain on the roads, is there people around that you can play with, jams etc., and where.

I would be interested in the answers also, as I have a dear friend who wants to retire to the Palani area and he was thinking of starting a guitar making business using local craftsmen. He wondered if it would be a worthwhile venture.

There are stacks of music shops in Delhi near the Sunday book market on Daryaganj (I think) good place to start looking!

lots of music shops in india sell indian made acoustic guitars for Rs1,500 and above. the guitars are playable. Will score say 5-6 out of 10 . I don't how else to explain what is a subjective assessment. If you are an accomplshed player, you should be able to make it work.
