bingo!
How about setting up an Indiamike Internet Cafe/travel agency in the major centers throughout India. Bookings, travel advice, internet access and free kawa chai. There would be a twist ...instead of having the usual kashmiri touts and hawkers the Indiamike equivalent would be dressed in hippy garb and skoot around on Inline skates for maximum exposure.
We shall not cease from exploration, and the end of all our exploring will be to arrive where we started and know the place for the first time. ~

How did you know?
Actually if check the end of the below beer thread: HowieUK, Yetijuice et al are all geared up for a Real ale, cask conditioned Brewery as a viable India Goof-off project - check it out maybe you want to invest?
Beers you like/Beers you don't
Always available for India business ideas and/or consultancy

..... Based on what I've read here, a knowledgeable tour guide would be in good demand. By knowledgeable I mean one who knows the history, architecture, culture, society etc. - not just the usual "On your left is the famous Hawa Mahal, on your right Babri Masjid built in blah... blah.. blah.." In other words, provide some depth in addition to the visual experience.
On the other hand, given the cost-conscious traveller at Indiamike, I don't know if it's a viable idea.

I know a couple here in England who run a pub and have a real ale micro brewery in their pub garden (Fantasy brewery - I think something will be about them on the net via a search!)
They are very unusual characters who invest in weird and wonderful ideas (I hope!)
I am considering approaching them re the micro brewery scenario in India!
What do you think?
Howie

Well unless your in for the long-haul and have super deep pockets, I would advise against anything requiring a Government or State License to operate. There often not worth the paper they are written on and may become invalid if the officials you signed with lose power.

But do you need a Government Licence for alcohol(probably yes) and if you do must you be a majority Indian owned (51%>) to do so? Foster's is brewed under license in Rajasthan I think ... maybe that's the way to go until you get a just of the red tape trials & tribulations of Government Licenses and dealings.

this would certainly be interesting. we could use the best of india's hawking ability to get attention without turning people off to a great thing. that's the thing that many salespeople of india fail to understand; the wares can easily sell themselves. all they need do is be a gracious and friendly. i think many people would be much more inclined to buy under those circumstances. Not all who wander are lost

takes a while to change ..

Some of the high pressure sales in India is reminiscent of the Car Dealers back in the 60' & 70's ... kind of locked the doors and held you captive until they got you to sign on the dotted line or even worse a phone number
... then they figured out that it was much better sales wise to to take a pill and relax .... perhaps they will be headed back to those tactics with recent sales fiqures.
It would be financial feasible if you added icons on the desktop that directed the users to sites that would pay you a fee ie. Lodging,
Or sites that sent people to buy items tourists ask for, sites that you owned
Of course shipping is always a problem in India

Your desktop is the screen you look at when you start your computer, It's the top of the heirarchy tree on a windoze equipped computerIf you put a link to 'Oscars Weiner Shop' on the desktop, it's not adware. it's a simple link directing people to 'Oscar's Weinie' or whichever links you want them to see, it does not take away any options nor control any surfing when they fire up Firefox and search through google
Which is the version of adware I assume you are thinking of
I add that kind of stuff more discreetly
