To meet the growing demand for Indian visa, the processing is being outsourced to private companies in UK & various locations.

That is bad news.

Whatever it may mean anywhere else in the world, outsourscing and privatisation of such things in UK means profit-motive bosses, badly paid and unmotivated staff etc etc.

As the tourist visa is just a give-us-your-money-rubber-stamp thing it ought to be easy ---why don't they outsource it to Tesco? Get your visa with your shopping!--- but HCI London is very efficient and I doubt that any new system will bring improvements

Jyoti, do you have links to info on this? I'd be interested to read more.

Quit whining!

I see Thatcherism has not bit you in the arse! Ungrateful sods, you all are. What next? A return to strikes? Coal, Water, Electricity, newspapers, trains and buses?

Wait, don't tell me, you swear by the commie swilling Guardian?

Always spongeing off the HM Gov., I suppose, you dont want to PAY for the air you breathe. wasting so much of it by screaming in the picket lines. Can't you see, there are others who cant even breathe?

Like me, for instance, I'm winded by typing all this.

Yep! Get MRSI with your Indian visa as the demoralised no-job-security no-pension minimum-wage cleaners at the new agency just can't be bothered. Just like the post-thatcher British NHS. Or I guess I could say the Blair NHS

I understand what you are saying about privatisation. The British visa thing in India is run by private companies. Some of the staff are useless. If you try to submit supporting documents they will refuse to accept the documents. The immigration officer will then reject your application as you have not shown any supporting documents.

However there does appear a need to outsource in some areas. You should try the Consulate General in Brmingham. The staff are totally unmotivated. Huge queues are the norm unless you start queuing at 6am.

The staff appear to be brain dead. Each time you go for non visa consular services they will tell you that you need to bring xyz document. When you take xyz document they will tell you you need another document. They really know how to pi$$ people off. To top things off whilst the rest of us queue you get friends and relatives of people who know the commissioner getting special treatment and not having to queue.

I have countless Indian visas in my passport but each time I go they mark my application with an R (referrel) to check against blacklists (even though the blacklist they use dates from the 1980s, so unless you made it on to the blacklist in the 1980s there is no way of getting on to it and if you have previous visas and have travelled in and out of India then you can not possibly be on the blacklist).

Why dont they have some sort of online system. Where you can sit in the comfort of your own home, submit all your personal details over the internet, which a computer system can check against a blacklist. Then you print off a visa which you can carry like an e-ticket.

To be able to talk to God-communion(both large and small"c") is the first step to being thought a Christian. The trouble starts when God replies to you personally. That's the first step to schizophrenia.

I see that you're not toeing the party line. Indirectly imputing the PM of being a schizo

Sigh.

Another ticket to Belmarsh then.

The P.M a schizo?I am still in two minds about that.
"Commie swilling Guardian"?I think not but still preferable to the rest of the U.K press with their W.M.D's-words of mass deception.
