Birth Certificates

Please can someone help.

My mother was born in Guntakal, Andhra Pradesh, India, however she does not have a birth certficiate only a baptism certifiate. My mother is now a british citizen but is trying to apply for dual citizenship, however for this she needs an offical birth certificate. Apparently we need to contact the authority of the Munipically of Guntakal or village Panchayat, however so far I have had no luck on the internet. Would anyone be able to look up the name, address, tel no and email address of the office that we would need to contact.

Thank you very much in advance to anyone that can help.

When we visited the Indian high commission in London yesterday, they advised me that they would not except an afidavit. All my mother has is her baptism certificate with her birthdate on it, but they advised regardless of what year she was born in she will be able to get a birth certficate.

Do you have any other ideas? Is there such a thing as a Birth Registar in Guntakal? Do you know how I would find this out?

Hi little shoe
there are no offices such as birth registrars. the local municipality or corporation or panchayth is the competent authority to issue birth/death certificates.

Hi,
i think your mother would have to go to the panchayat herself and apply. if she knows any of her friends or family who still live there, she should go with them in case here birth has not been registered or if there are no records .i just got a birth certificate in english-the original was written in hindi and by hand, even though they had no records cause the panchayat caught fire few years ago, they remembered my parents and the house i was born in.

Hi,
if you have any froends or family living in the area or you could check a web address or tel. no for the state and get info. but your mother would have to go in person to apply cause she would have to sign in the register book. i asked a friend of mine to try to get mine but was not possible because of signiture.
