Ask before you drink

I recently had a great meal with my girl at the kentukee restaurant at the reccomendation of our friend Phobal .
Now , at the end of the meal we debated on having a desert and then decided that our bellies were full up enough not to warrant stuffing ourselves anymore . When we handed the waiter the menu back stating that we did not want a desert he suggested that we have a Baileys irish cream . What a great idea we thought , then ordered one each , failing to ask the price . When the bill came the two single shots of baileys and ice had coct us a cool 500 rps . So we asked the waiter if this sum was correct and he assured us it was . So reluctantly (as we had drank them already ) we paid and left, feeling deflated as our meal did not even reach this staggering sum . All in all ,the moral to the story is make sure you ask a price for everything before you jump in and try, even the small things like a drink . Our train journeys here and there could have all been paid for with one of these drinks

I dont think you had been ripped that badly. Rs250/- a shot is ok. But whether to spend this amount on a drink or not is another issue & there you are right it is always better to check the prices. One shot of cognac each for me & my family after a dinner had burned a hole in my purse in Prague!

An Aunt of mine once took a holiday in Switzerland. To her regret it was only towards the end of her week there that she found her hotel charged less for cognan than for coffee!

Talking Korea

I was on a speaking tour in Korea some years ago and stayed at the beautiful Novetal. They had a fantastic young Philipino Band play each night at the restaurant. After a few nights of truly enjoying great music I offered the band a drink on me. They all ordered orange juice, which I found rather strange. The girls of the band strangely giggled with glee when I agreed to this order. I had thought they would order something real expensive rather than mere orange juice. Then I got my bill and found out that each small glass of orange juice was $8. There were 8 band members...

Dom do it.

Keeping with that thought - probably not adviseable to order a bottle of DOM Perignon at one of the 5-star deluxe hotels either ($1200 - $1500 ?). A bill for that bottle would quickly sober up even the deepest pocketed imbiber
