Aren't We hellbent on Westernizing This Civilization!!!

Now I understand browsing Yahoo News isn't the most fascinating idea on a dry wry Sunday noon, but it just got my cerebrum activated. "Now Slutwalk in KolKatta!!!" It read. Now look at the glorious prospects of this- a hip hop young crowd pretending a movement of some related bleak democratic view points.I must say it doesn't work on Indian crowd though, not even remotely..Hell no!! But there is a stir in young generation...a welcome move.

"Flash Mob." Oh yeah, we are pretty much doing it as well and its a hell lot of fun. Yup, the young adults of Metropolitans are geared with this western idea of instant fun. Its cool and happening. Now I belong to the same generation and I love it. I don't see lot of Indian music concerts nowadays, but count on...Metallica, Gaga,JLo,Fatboy Slim, Pitbull. They are here and rocking. The guitar crowd in North east even pulled a guiness world record out of it.

In last few years, I've encountered some interesting finds on mean Indian streets. An Emo kid in black lipstick, T shirts with some cool abusives (I wear one...oh my guilty pleasures.) ,Low waist jeans- a butt cheeks show. Sportbikes with fake NOS,Tattos which originates in belly buttons and crash right on Genitals!!! Blue dyed hairs, tongue piercing (and lot of other piercing and unpierc-iable places), bullet shot jeans (now this is relly cool as long as you don't have "Amazon" thighs).Couple of years before, another exciting movement took birth- sending "pink panties" to the VHS/anti-valentine day activists as a protest. Millions of young crowd associated with it.(I didn't, I had one, but it wasn't pink... it wasn't mine either)

Now, I understand West finds T-shirts with "Ohm" symbols cool, and Ganesha and Shiva are their latest Heavy Metal icons.Of course it sounds cool in a weird way, but its pretty much sharing the culture in wide sense. But today,an average young Indian walking out in college streets, are they just sharing cultures or are they blending the entire generation in it.Is it justa cool quotient or are we on the higher event... are we Metamorphizing our culture??

Mcdonalds and K.F.C's have already taken the metros. Next Victoria Secret will take over the footpath vendors with those stuffs in yellow and blues!!! Its alright, globalization is a necessary evil. Hopefully, in a long run we don't metamorphize the culture as well. Cuz I love jumping in Rock concerts but it couldn't beat the "Dandiya" in Navrathri or the campfire lores/songs of "Lohri".

Did I just notice a man disparaging protests about basic female and human rights?

Ouch! I wouldn't like to do that here

Take cover!

"disparaging!!"... Heavens!! My vocabulary sucks!! I swear I had to sulk over a dictionary for it. But yup I got it!!! And then I read my thread again and got confused like a millipede ( undecided which joints actually hurts???)
Now disparaging human rights wasn't my idea if it felt so.(Huh!! I got to make acticles more comprehensive and positive appealing). I thought I was just being, on ignorant debate with my punk self ,if I along with the tottering crowd was trying to blend the West and East(Indian sub continent in particular). Of course some mighty human right fact was just an example, maybe but was that a point. Of Course I'd love a candle light march to oppose stuffs rather than a "Slut Walk"(didn't I say I am Gandhi's Fan).

U mean rejected Victoria secrets land in Delhi footpaths?? U found one?? Awesome!!! Sorry for being funny but I don't think so. I'm sure the jockey you are wearing isn't from footpath either, neither is the Boxer u over-wear over it.

"Ask and you shall be served"- Indeed I agree to that, and that's exactly the whole point. When soccer cup needs the dress code, they import from Tirupur godowns, when hip gen needs a class inners, they hire the likes of Jockeys!!!Pretty fascinating. Now I don't deny I wear one and I'm no saint.

Well, I didn't jump on you, did I?

I'm very much afraid that candle-light marches (take back the night) belong to a different age now (even if it was my lifetime only) and stronger stuff is needed.

Yup Edward, its sadly "us". No denying it.

Did you say stronger stuff, Nick?? Slutwalk, is wad you call a stronger stuff. I wish you had been in India longer, you would be more learned in Hindustani style. I would recommend you a trip to Bihar (or a trip to nearest multiplex for "gangs of Wasseypur). Now thats called a stronger stuff here. "Slutwalk" & "Pink Panty Andolan"...lest you walk on metropolitans, you'll be laughed at!!
