Are there any (old) coin experts here?

Talking Are there any (old) coin experts here?

I’ve bought a few coins from outside the Aurangabad fort as a souvenir. They said it’s of Shajahan, Ala-ud-Din-Khilji, etc. Any way I didn’t bother much about the authenticity as my indentation was to collect something to mark my visit this place I my curios collections. I paid 100rs for 3 coins? Now curiosity itches me, how do I know if they are fakes of original? I’m sure they were selling theses as the non-exotic coins.

How do I check this? Are there any online forums?

I can post photos here..

any help is welcomed

I don't know but I am very interested.
I usually pick up a few old coins every time I go, and some look very suspect but still interesting, so I get them.
I also get old postcards wherever I can, and old letters with sealing wax on them.
I think there are quite active philately groups in India, and I'd like to contact one in Goa but haven't managed it yet.
I have no idea about the value of things but just buy what I think looks interesting if the price is cheap.
The theory is that even if its rubbish I haven't wasted much money, and they are still interesting to look at!
Best, AnnieG

I collect old indian coins if you put a picture or give a description about dimensions, metal and apperance i can see them and tell some thing ............
reasons they would be original...........cause its not good business making fakes and selling for 33 or 40 bucks a piece , if they are copper/brass , well used and smoothed out and dirty they are most prob. genuine . if it's more shiny and new its most prob a fake , which am sure it isnt , though the real guys on the coins may be doubtful but mostly probably real .my guess is ithey are dime sized copper coins with presian calligarphy written and years of grime stuck on them---------

I bought a few that were dated around 1717 and said East India Company. I can;t find any evidence to prove that they are genuine. I suspect they are fakes.
