Anyone want to meet in Delhi or go Delhi to Amritsar?

Hello All

I am arriving into Delhi at 3am (eurgh) on the 16th October. I plan to stay there 3/4 days. Does anyone wanna meet up? Its my first time to India and I am a little nervous. you can read about me on my profile.

I then plan to get the train to Amritsar. Is anyone else wanting to do this around this time?

Andy,

If only I was going to be there that soon again! If you had said first week in November, I'd have hit you up to join me for a brew or two.

I hope you find a partner with whom to enjoy your stay! BTW, let us know your impressions when you get there (or after if you won't have a connection to the internet).

Hi Andy, unfortunately I don't arrive till the 22nd, I'm heading up to Amritsar but via Rajasthan, plan to be there for diwali, let me know if you are going to be around there then.

Glad to hear someone else is a "little" nervous, I wish I was only a little nervous

Andy & company .... REEEEEEELAX. India will treat you well, I promise. And the sights and sounds and tastes are incredible. You won't have TIME to be nervous (except for maybe that first cab/autorickshaw ride).

To this day, I miss so much about that place and I've been back here in the states for a litlte over a month. I go back again in about 3 weeks and I am so excited to go back. We'll find out soon enough if you wind up getting hooked ... I wait with bated breath to find out.

In the meantime, just make your plans, relax and go with the flow.

Second that.

You have three or four days in Delhi, which will help immensely to get you settled in and adjust after the initial culture shock.

There will be hundreds of foreigners in a similar situation, so either just head for one of these Paharganj rooftop restaurants or join one of the half- or full-day Delhi tours (organised by the Delhi Tourism Development Corporation, I think), which are excellent to give you a quick overview of what is worth seeing.

Have fun.

Thanks guys, I think it's normal to be a tad nervous moving into the unknown but as my sister-in-law says "all is unfolding as it should" so I'll just have to go with the flow

Also I just heard from someone that it is quite polluted up in Amritsar at the moment, has anyone else heard that.

Andy, I was planning on going to Varanasi for Diwali at first but decided I was backtracking too much for only a 2 mth trip when I am planning on going to the camel fair, I would love to hear what you think of it. Also let me know what Amritsar is like and where you stay if it's good of course.

Take care and we will both (all) be fine, it's natural to be nervous, hell I'd be more nervous if I wasn't nervous!!

Relax...
Breathe In...
Breathe Out...
Breathe In...

you get the idea....

As Alchemy said, you have 3-4 days in dehli to get over the culture shock and to get your bearings, you'll be fine.
