An India travelogue like no other

I'm eagerly waiting forthis to be released in the US.

It could be a bollywood film...It just might ...

this excerpt is great too.

Amazon is listing it for $50!! Why so expensive? I understand it is a large book, but I can't imagine paying so much for a book.

Reviews are excellent BTW.

The book looks interesting and the man clearly has a tale to tell but I agree with what's been said already - at $50 a copy this author is still a robber, albeit unarmed these days.

Shantaram has been out in Australia for a while, as the author is Australian. I don't think it was equivalent to $50 US though! It's a great read, particularly the sections about the slum in Mumbai where Roberts lived for a while. His affection for India is so strong...Mumbai really is the main character. Makes you never want to see the insides of an Indian jail!!

BTW, I think Roberts said that he didn't want to release the book in paperback because he wanted it to be 'taken seriously'. So unless he and the publisher has a re-think on that, buying the hardback may be the only option.

I think the $ 50 price in amazon.com is from the fact that it's not been released yet in the US and it's an import. (Imports are generally priced more expensively.)

when you see his first picture he looks like a gentle enough guy, nothing out of the ordinary.

But then you scroll down and see him in a vest and you realise hs is one big mofo.
