What is the best way from Bundi to Pushkar

Hi all, looking at options to get to Pushkar, I know of one bus that leave at 8.30am and I would prefer a later bus or train, can anyone assist, I wasn't able to work out the trains. Should say planning on leaving Bundi 6th or 7th Nov.

Thanks

All I can tell you is that I did it 7 years ago , but in the opposite direction. From Pushkar to Bundi. I took a bus to Ajmer and from there to Bundi. I do remember though that the ride from Ajmer to Bundi the driver stopped and took a chai break every hour!
It was a fun ride, as I rode on the top if the bus.

I think the bus would be the best option, but here's another....

Train 9020A departs Bundi daily at 09:35 and gets to Chittaurgarh at 12:00. (1A, 2A, SL.)

Train 4744 departs Chittaurgarh daily at 15:25 and gets to Ajmer at 21:10. (1A, 2A, FC, SL.)

Should give you a bit of time to stretch your legs and have a look at Chittaurgarh.

What, what? Steven "Mad About Trains" Ber suggesting bus over train? Steven's train suggestion has several advantages. Chittorgarh is awesome and often overlooked. Train is always more comfortable than bus. A train has a bathroom on it and a bus does not. I guess if you are a guy it's not that big of a deal, but for ladies it's a MAJOR advantage.

P.S. The slang "mad" in this case means "in love with" not "angry" with, but then anybody who follows Stevens posts knows this!!

The bus may be quicker, but I agree, the train is always the most comfortable.

I remember when I couldn't get confirmed berths for the old Chetak Express from Jaipur to Udaipur, I thought I would have to take a bus, depression started to sink in, I thought about abandoning the idea of going to Udaipur, eventually the tears started rolling down my face, until the booking clerk found me an available train berth.

That was one of the longest 10 seconds of my life.

I would think about Bundi-Kota-Jaipur-Ajmer-Pushkar
To Kota its about 40 minutes to the train station by Taxi or bus

The daily
2955 BCT JP EXPRESS *KOTA JN 08:50 JAIPUR 12:45
Reaches Jaipur in a little under four hours

There a superfast train to Jaipur three days a week which does the journey in a bit under 4 and 1/2 hours!!
2979 JAIPUR SUPERFAST *KOTA JN 06:55 JAIPUR 11:20

Both of these trains arrive in Jaipur early enough to catch a train/bus to Ajmer for Pushkar it's a bit of doubling back but it'd not too horrendous and you get to use the train most of the way with all the advantages that are mentioned above!!
From Jaipur to Ajmer you don't even need to reserve, book a general class ticket and upgrade to 2nd class when on the train!!
This would see you in Puskar by 7 o'clock maximum!!

My two pennies worth

Dear Steven,
Kota is NOT connected to stations beyond Jaipur, which must be causing lot of inconvenience to the passengers.
----------
A direct train, if considered, from Kota to Ajmer via Sawai Madhopur/Jaipur should help the Tourists a lot. Likewise, a direct train from Kota to Jodhpur in the same Route.
================
I presume, the recently introduced 2965/2966 UDZ-JP SFE has not been provided a stop in Bundi.
=============
For the present, BUNDI-COR and COR-AII should be the best option, if one wants to avoid the Bus Journey.

I doubt Indian railways will ever arrange trains for tourists (apart from the 'summer/festival specials'), there's not enough money in it.

There is a train from Kota to Jodhpur, but it's a slow passenger train and also a daytime train.

I've often wondered about the links between Degana and Pushkar, the distance seems to be about 55 Kms. so even a slow bus would cover this in under 2 hours.

If this was practical it would allow access to Pushkar from so many extra trains - Agra to Pushkar would then be an easy connection.

Dear Steven
Your observation:-
""There is a train from Kota to Jodhpur, but it's a slow passenger train and also a daytime train.""
-------------
@@@Yes: But this is the second long distance passenger train in the I.R.System that travels for 993 Kms., the first one being the 581/582 Passenger which travels for 1017 Kms. and the third one, is 433/434 GNT-YPR Passenger which travels for 734 Kms.
================
I am afraid, we may have to await conversion of Marwar-Mavli Jn. and Chittorgarh-Ajmer stretch into BG.

Hi, thanks for the suggestions, I think I am just going to get the bus to Ajmer, spend the night there then get a bus to Pushkar after I have had a look around. I'm quite enjoying the bus and I have found a way around the toilet issue, I don't eat or drink a few hours before and only sip on water on the trip, I know, I know but hey it is working for me so far!!

They changed the indianrail.gov.in website, by chance I was just looking at it and I am confused again but I found the reservations under passenger information, train reservation if anyone is interested.
