traffic
Just wondering if I travel the Golden Triangle by car, I've read each destination takes about 4 hours. How is the highway traffic usually? Nothing really bad? Is there anything (beyond the obvious of course) that could happen that would turn those 4 hours into a 4+ hours trip?

While I can't list off everything that might happen, you should factor in delays. Keep in mind that, in India, things just plain take longer than you expect them to.
If you're scheduling in a way that an extra half hour or 45 minutes is going to mess you up, you're probably not looking at this in the right way. |

I think you should allow more than 4 hours for the Jaipur - Delhi leg of the trip. And as the opoponax suggests factor in a bit extra time for delays, hold-ups with traffic etc. One can never predict these things and these particular roads can be quite busy.

Rush hour can happen, and Faridabad will happen. Both = traffic jams. Avoid rush hour, basically.
The ride to Jaipur from Delhi is super-smooth now the new flyover's finished. If you have a crazy driver you could manage it in less than five hours. There were some roadworks last month but nothing major. |

I did Def Col - Jaipur (Hotel doorstep) in 6 hours, which i considered slow (had an old battered 800 then)... if you time your gurgaon bit properly it should be doable in 5 hours with a tea stop.
Def Col - Manesar ( can be anything between 45 min -2 hours) Manesar to Jaipur around 4 hours |
