The only way you can reach Siachen is if you are willing to trek and can get permission from Home Ministry and Army (quite tough). As far as Siachen base camp is concerned, you need contacts in the army for it.

Nothing particular, just depends on contact's rank, where he is posted and who he knows. At the end of the day, you will be asked to keep it under wrap. Its not really a biggie, plenty of people have already done it.

Pardon my memory, but I don't think I remeber Alok's shop, what type of shop was it?

Yes you can reach there in mid June , only problem would be that ice start melting in the afternoon and by late afternoon most of the water crossings start flooding and becomes really messy and dangerous ,
I remember last year while coming back from pongonso lake we spent a lot of time on the lake and did not realize that its a 183km ride back however we started but the water crossings we did in the morning were flooding and as the clock start ticking those floods were not the usual crossings any more. At one crossing no SUV's were able to cross and it started snowing thanks to luck we managed somehow and reached back drenched in water.

Became one of the only two or three people to reach Marsimek La top solo on my motorcycle on the 15th of September...my GPS showed an altitude of 18386 feet...out of the world experience.

I know it has been done solo...doing it on a enticer BTW is easier than on a bullet...bullet for once, is not at all the ideal vehicle for this. I have also checked the ITBP and DC records about the number of permits issued to solo riders for Marsimek La...and let me tell you there were only a handful...and even out of them not every one made it to the top.
