Shipping Bicycle back to the U.S.

Hi!

I have seen a few posts about folks shipping larger items (bicycles, furniture, etc) from India back to the U.S. Other than expensive DHL FedEx, what sort of shipping options are there on the budget end?

Curious because I have found little with my online search, (only full shipping containers)

Thanks

Daniel

Check this to see if it qualifies for your budget shipping.

I'm thinking about boxing a bike up and trying to put it on a plane. My understanding is that I get 2 50lb (23kg) bags of checked luggage. Any idea the weight of a hero cycle?

Not more than 10KG including packaging.

You can also try disassembling the bike and sending it by registered & insured India post (not EMS). It might take up to a month to get to the US but it shouldn't exceed Rs.500. There is no tracking available.

A friend of mine took a bicycle on plane from SA to UK, no problem. He took the wheels off. Out it back together at Heathrow and rode away. Speak to the airline.

Sounds good! And much cheaper than an airport cab!
