Road Trip from Chennai to Himachal Pradesh

I am not quite sure if this is the correct place to post this, but here I am.

I am planning a road trip from chennai to himachal pradesh and I thought of getting some opinion. Following are the points that are currently on my mind, but if you think I might have missed something do enlighten me.

First and foremost I am driving alone. And since I am more of a day driver I plan to do 6 to 6. And I plan to cover 600 to 800 kms everyday considering going around places.

1. This is the route I plan to take from Chennai to HP. I would really appreciate if you all could point me to places to see and stay, in the towns that you have visited or live in. It really does not matter if I have to drive only a few hundred kms(not the target of 600 to 800) on one day from point A to point B if spending time in point B is worth it.

2. What should be on the top of my list to carry with me during the trip?

Well, these are the only 2 things that are there on my mind and like I said before if you think there is something more that I should know please do let me know.
