There's no direct bus from Rishikesh to Manali, as far as I'm aware. You may take a bus from Rishikesh to Haridwar and then another from Haridwar to Manali.

Travel time : Rishikesh to Haridwar 1 hr., Haridwar to Manali 15 hrs. (550 kms.). The route is via Saharanpur, Ambala, Chandigarh and Mandi.

hey shimla,
went to the "tourist information office" today in rishikesh to find out about the bus. he didnt have a clue! heh. he said there might be a 21:30 himachal transport bus leaving from hardiwar. and that it would take 10 hours. he didnt know how much it would cost. does anyone know what these himachal transport buses are like? horrific? maybe we should head back to delhi and try to get an ac deluxe bus from there. ive had too many tragic bus journeys in this country to last a life time.

The Himachal Transport buses are ordinary, non-A/C buses, with fixed seats and a 2 x 3 arrangement. While they may not be ideal for long journeys, they're not horrific, either. Consider breaking your journey for a day at Chandigarh or Mandi, to make it easier.

Hi, When i did this i caught a bus from rishi to shimla then next day shimla to manali whats all this a/c deluxe stuff local buses are more fun & what travel in india is all about for me. You need to relax & get into the flow ( mind an all) surely it is more hassle going all the way back to delhi. Hold on tight! kk
