Rent!

If you buy, you may waste precious time trying to sell it later for a fair price

Renting will be cheaper for you but not everybody will give you a bike for such a long trip. Also you will have to return the bike, means you have to go back to the town where you rented it.

Buying is more expensive but if you buy a new bike you can be more sure that it will see you through the trip. When you rent you won't be sure of the condition of the machine.

There is no sense in buying a bike for 5 weeks. You will be trying to get rid of it at the last moment and get screwed.

Its better to rent a RE coz selling it may become a pain for you.

The selling price also may not be of your like, leave apart completing other legal formalities.

There should be a RE club, try to search google india

My suggestion would be to buy it but don’t try to transfer the bike into your name. This would ensure you can sell the bike where ever you want instead of bringing it back to the dealer you rented it from. Of course this might cost more, but that is some thing you have to decide.
