I'm totally confused, volga !!

The title of your post mentions the year 2004, the first line of your post mentions the year 1999 and the actual event seems to have already taken place in the year 2003(referring to the link) !!

Its an annual event and this year the organisers are planning to change the route from the previous one.
Its a dangerous rally as its held in last days when these roads (if there any) are motorable, but at some places (especially at high altitude passes) one can find a thin layer of snow on the road, making it very dangerous.
Last year a british guy on Enfield died during the rally.
I know few of the regular participants & organisers, if anyone interested & wnats more info, I can get it.

I'm not going..no time, no sponsors and too dangerous.

vinayverma, not more dangerous than driving in Delhi, i recon... the main danger on an indian road is OTHER vehicles, and especially their drivers and these will be scarce on the Leg 5 Leh- Chang La – Lukung – Chushul – Nyoma – Mahe – Pang

-m2- there are more pics in their picture gallery

Raid de Himalaya

Hi

Raid de Himalaya is really something. Last year (2003) I was stuck at Losar while heading towards Manali from Kaza due to this rally. The road was closed to the public for the rally & I had to wait at Losar from 8Am to 3.30 PM . Road were open /cleared to public aftre the last vehicle passed . It was really an experience to see the rally at that spot (LOSAR) .Hatsup to them .Though this cost me a bit , I reached Manali at 8.30PM & faced a snow storm like situation at Kuzum la. Anyways that was a experience I will remember for quite a long time.
Attn. Those who are travelling to the rally route please check the date & time beforehand as roads get closed for public during the rally specially this Kaza route.
