Question on taxi fare
what is the charge of the motorcycle(which have 1 in front & 2 wheel in the rear, not the black car)?
yesterday I take with my friend, I see the meter is 1 9 (1 is in BLACK color and 9 in RED color, a label is write at below the digit and with word rupee (under 1)and paise(under 9)) I think it should be 1.9 Rupee, am I right? but my friend told me it is 19 Rupee.... the taxi only take 10 mins from hotel to the restaurant. Can someone told me the fare should pay? |

It is Rs. 19 and not Rs 1.9. You get NOTHING in India for Rs. 1.9. Even beggars don't take anything less than Rs. 5.0 So, yeah, your friend is correct.

q12368c, you are correct that the readout means 1.9 rupees, but that is not the fare. In Bombay the autorickshaw (and taxi) drivers have conversion cards that tell you the correct fare based on this meter reading. This is necessary because meters are never updated as the fares increase. I think drivers in most of the big cities must carry cards like this--just ask the driver for the rate card before you pay.
