Qualis? Tata? Help please with makes of cars

Qualis? Ttat? Four of us are planning to hire a car. We would like A/C and some leg room. Have had quotes for a Toyota Qualis and another agency has suggested a "Tata Tour Inn'. Does anyone know what that is? The quote is considerably less than for the Qualis. (like 26,000 for 16 days as compared to 46,000 for the Qualis.) So, a major decision. I am seeking better quotes for the Qualis but am interested in opinions on what to expect from a "Tata tour Inn". Thanks folks...you continue to surprise me with your input.

It sounds like they'll be using a Tata Sumo (older four wheel drive from Tata cars!!) Tata Sumos are by all accounts very bouncy vehicles to drive, the Qualis is supposed to be a far superior drive according to a few taxi drivers I've spoke to on the subject. My tuppence worth!!

Tata Tourin is a six-seater variant of the Tata Sumo. Sumo is a more basic vehicle than Qualis although I prefer the seating in a Sumo to that of a Qualis. If you have been driven around in a Sumo before, expect the same from a Tourin.

The Toyota Qualis is far superior to the Tata Tourin.

try to contact more tour operators once u r in india. the qualis is an old generation toyota product, which is more comfortable than the tata sumo. you can also try in for the new toyota innova (which replaces the toyota qualis in india) or the mahindra scorpio (as comfortable as the qualis)..

this is how the sumo looks

The Toyota Innova replaces the old Qualis, but not many companies have the Innova yet.

The Qualis was the best of the bunch - high driving position so you get better views, plenty of leg room, etc., but the suspension on the Qualis is far too hard, making for an uncomfortable ride.

The Innova, on the other hand, is a very comfortable ride. It is also high up, so great views, excellent comfort and masses of legroom front and back.

Get the Innova if you can, but also consider an Ambassador. The Ambassador is a lot cheaper to hire, and they are very comfortable, with soft suspension that soaks up potholes and bumpy roads.

If you are looking for economy, ask the price of the Tata Indica. It is a small car, but quite comfy. I have done an 8 hour drive in one and not suffered in the slightest!

Toyota Innova... if you can get one, go for it!

I recommend the Innova >>

As for the Qualis, it comes in different versions and different comfort-levels. The
"stripped-down" version taxi companies use is very basic and not too comfortable. If you can get an Innova, get an Innova. But as it has been just introduced a few months ago, most travel companies will not have it.
