price for hiring the car
price for hiring the car
hi
I'm looking for the best price for hiring the car (with a driver) for the trip around Rajasthan that will take ten days and around 2000 km.
I've already contacted one company in India and I was quoted 32000 INR for Tata Indigo or 26000 INR for Tata Indica. In another thread somebody wrote that he'd been quoted 26500 INR for ten days but the trip was going to be 3000 km and he was offered Toyota Innova, which I believe is a better car than Tata.
In this case I'm wondering if i can ask for the price 8-9 INR per km for my trip with Tata Indigo or I'm beeeing unrealistic looking for that price.
I obviously need to bargain but I also want to know where is the price border.
Thanks in advance
Agnieszka

Have a look at http://www.namasteindiatours.com/ they advertise 8- and 15-day tours of Rajasthan. I've dealt with them and they are honorable and reliable people. IF nothing else, you can get an idea of the price from their website.

Namaste Indian Tours certainly look like a well established company and I like that they seem happy to tailor their tours to your needs. For instance being based in Delhi, although we both love it, we would want any tour to get out of there asap!
Do you know whether their drivers all speak English? My Hindi is still fragmentary to say the least.

Yes, they all speak English and they all have a lot of experience on the Rajasthan circuit too.
In the interest of balance I always feel like I should mention other car tour companies as well, but a site search will bring up those that have been recommended.

Mosquitos suck.

In my opnion that post should be compulsory reading for anyone travelling to India. Yes, even if they aren't going to Rajasthan. Everyone.
PS For an encore I've been contemplating the "Maha How To Get from Delhi to Agra Thread", to save Mickey S's blood pressure!

Hi,
The price quoted to you seems to be rather high. You may check out: www.heritagerajasthantour.com, Gajraj Travels. As far as I know they charge around 2000 INR for an Ambassador/Indigo with a maximum of average 250 km per day (so in your case for 10 days probably 20000-21000 INR), but you check yourself. They are very reliable. Unless you're travelling with more than 2 people, you won't need the Innova, which is larger and more expensive.
Good luck, have a nice tour.
Enjoy!

Right: thanks to you and Haylo for drawing my attention to the fact that I wasn't paying attention. I've corrected it!
The rate should be Rs.1500 to 1800 per day for around 200 Km. I am talking about an Ambassador, Qualis, Tavera, Sumo. And Indica should be a bit cheaper and Innova higher.
