Premjis tyre wallah, is this normal?
Hello and thanks for reading.
My wife and i are planning a two month motor bike tour from mumbai at the beginning of october. We plan to encircle the south and finish in goa before we return to mumbai and then home. I have phoned premjis in mumbai and have spoken to a mister Ali who seemed helpful. He said he would send me an email which didnt arrive. I called back and he said he would resend the message. I still got no reply so i emailed him from my email as well as premjis's site offering my email address as well as my wifes email. To date i still have no reply. this seems very strange as they come highly recomended. has anyone else had this problem, is this normal? Thanks for your time, Pyro |

Many indian setups are not geared for email.
Having said that, somebody telling you he has emailed when he probably hasn't doesn't sound too professional to me.

Thanks for the prompt response, I agree it does not seem very professional. My confusion comes from this particular business being listed in LP and regularly linked in topics on this forum as THE PLACE for motor bikes in mumbai. on top of all that there website is extremely well set up and functions well.
Oh well still have time to organise something, im glad i got on to it early. |

No, and it must be very annoying when you're trying to tie up the loose ends. It's far from unusual though. In expecting an Indian small business to respond to your email, you are likely to be asking them to do something that doesn't really fit with their usual way of doing things. He may not even be reliably online in his office, or use emails regularly; I have had the same experience with hotels, many of which either did not respond, or who got round to replying several weeks too late.
Look upon it as practice for dealing with beautiful, amazing, chaotic, blooding annoying India. ![]() Quote:
What concerns me is that you could find another company that has a professional looking website, and who communnicates well by email, but who are actually pretty useless on the ground when you arrive. Quote:
