Hello,
Volvo buses are much better then the other more standard ones from my experiences, but nothing is more comfortable than the train/plane. Make sure u pack a blanket if the bus is A/C, most of the times the drivers will not turn off the A/C during the night, even if the cold is too unbearable for the passengers. S.Thakur |

Word of Warning
if it's sold as a Volvo,
if it looks like a Volvo on the photo it may NOT BE A VOLVO! I got stitched a couple of times by this... avoid the buses wherever possible but if you can't avoid it take a blanket and some food/drink but go easy on the drink as you might not stop too often... Can't you get a tourist quota train ticket? or even a 'plane? Matt |

IF its a volvo, try to get a seat thats not in the first few rows, or take something that can be used to cover your eyes. the headlights from the oncoming traffic can make sleeping difficult if not impossible.

A GOOD set of ear plugs is worth their weight in 24Kt Au.
I went so far as to have a custom set made. Comfortable to wear for long periods and they work very well. My ear channels are rectangular and cheap ear plugs don't seal properly. Sure wish I'd had these years ago. Not cheap.. $120 but am now able to sleep on long flights and overnight buses. W22 |

yes. a majority of large bus operators do operate volvos. its the smaller ones who claim volvo but run tata buses on volvo chassis. You could check www.redbus.in - they offer bus services out of Bangalore. They have tied up with large vendors for that.
a few things to take - 1. good ear plugs. 2. the sleeping blinds (what they give on aircrafts). 3. a blanket. and as pointed out by matt - avoid drinking too much water. Bangalore to Ernakulam is about 12 hrs (you leave at about 430-5 and reach EKM by 5 the next morning. Get a seat on the left side of the bus, somewhere near the center, the bounce is less, and hence ride is more comfortable. |
