Online bus ticket reservation sites
Try calling for the info
If you are in India, try calling 1800 209 2222 to get the timetable details of Rajasthan intercity buses. They'll even do the bookings if you want.
That's a very helpful tip, LittleWing.
It looks like these were so far missing from this thread (surprisingly), thanks to Aishah who just brought them up:
Rajasthan State Road Transport Corporation,
http://www.rsrtc.gov.in/ .
Note: Site currently claims to be copyrighted 2004-2006, no idea how up-to-date it is.
(And Simrat, it looks like they cover your intended destinations alright. If they don't offer what you seek, keep in mind again they won't be the only company out there, by far.)

Sara - I suggest you take a look at this Thread first:
Online bus ticket reservation sites
you may find most of the information you need here.

Every cloud has a silver lining!
I'd suggest just checking which one works for you (try to get an idea of how up-to-date they are as well, they may list dates here or there, and checking their schedules is likely to give an indication); most of them will be regional and serving just one or a couple of companies and hence routes. (And do realize a bus company in one region is unlikely to serve an entirely different one.)
It must be remembered many of the zillions of Indian bus companies whether private or public just won't be online, or inadequately so if they are (and it would hence and presumably remain to be seen if they'd be represented by any general portal sites), so what's not listed on this thread doesn't necessarily not exist, at all. The good news is because of their numbers they're usually easy to catch on the spot, although enquiring as soon as you can in a given town (when you have an idea of when you'll want to move on, say; or upon arrival if speedily traveling along) can never hurt of course.

Another handy-looking site that just popped up, thanks to JuliaF, no online booking provided I don't think:

hi guys,
trying to book a bus on yatra.com
going from mumbai to goa, there is one bus that's not outrageously expensive with Manish Travels Konduskar. On the return leg though, which must be the 2nd of Jan. it says for every bus "This bus will be available on “Request” basis shortly."
does this mean the buses are full? rather vague. thanks for the help.

No idea really. I would interpret it to mean the bus will run only if there is enough demand for it.*
Which doesn't exactly help you much further either. As noted before on this thread, keep in mind there'll be many more buses (and companies whether public or private running them) on the ground than you'll ever find on the web. I guess Jan. 2nd might be busy and so get tricky though, I have no idea how easy buses on this stretch around that time might be to get a hold of on the ground.
* Or one step further in the art of translating Hinglish: The demand is already there and the bus has been made available, it will go online as soon as someone can be bothered. This is really a matter of interpretation though, I wouldn't hold your hopes up on it. On the other hand, you can probably reasonably expect that demand to arise before Jan. 2nd, and so it will run. Well, yada yada -- I just don't know
Have you tried dropping Yatra an email about it?

No 1. question - yes buses do travel at night.
You can get very good buses from the government bus stand to Agra and similarly possibly the private buses from Agra to New Delhi - De Luxe, pushback seats etc. There are also sleeper buses available. Mixed reports about their comfort and cleanliness however.

hey, i need some help, i'm thinking of making a bus ride for my journey from Delhi to Udaipur in April, I believe its a 12 hrs journey. Any idea where is the bus terminal for Delhi-Udaipur buses? Can i just show up and hope to get a seat? I'm looking specifically for a non aircon bus ride, hoping to get a more indian feel to the busride. i've requested for tickets from redbus online but they have yet to get back to me. much appreciate if anyone have any sound advice on this.
