Hi,
If you are not pressed for time and really want to enjoy the ride with plenty of stopovers then you should choose the Scenic road. The route is obviously very beautiful, with minimum traffic (lookout for the devilish ST buses though, they come out of blind corners with breakneck speed!). You will be able to interact with lot of locals, eat local foods, and sample their lifestyle. However, the route mentioned in the website is bit outdated, you don't need to go back to NH17 every time. I suggest Mumbai Panvel (Nh17) Vadkhla Naka (Go Straight) Alibaug Revadanda Murud-Janjira Agardanda (Catch Ferry to Dighi)You may have to wait 1-2 hours, else can hire for private ferry Rs.150-200 Dighi Shrivardhan Harihareshwar (Catch Ferry for Bankot) Same rules as above Bankot Kelshi Harnai Dapoli Dabhol (Catch Ferry for Veldur or Dhopave) Ferry every half an hour from 06:00 to 20:30, Pvt trips possible after that. Guhagar(Take right from Tali, through Rai-Bhatgaon Bridge, it will save about 75 kms) Ganpatipule - Jaigad Ratnagiri Come back to NH17 When you crossover to Sindhudurg district keep a lookout for right turn to Devgad at Nandgaon Junction Devgad Malvan - Sindhudurg-Tarkarli Vengurla Terekol (Catch Ferry for Arambol, Goa) Arambol Anjuna Calangute Maupsa Panaji Mostly you will be taking Maharashtra State Highway MSH-04 for the journey. You can checkout their excellent maps at http://www.mahapwd.com/gismaps/default.htm Here is contact nos. of port offices, they can help you with ferry availability and timings. Port Office Bankot 952350 22050 Dapoli 952358 282479 Dabhol 952358 288358 Shrivardhan 952147 222235 Ratnagiri 952352 222160 Murud 952141 222746 Mora 9522 25328445 Bandra 9522 26490873 Hope this helps And pls share your journey with us at Indiamike Anindya

As per the info I have presnetly only Dabhol-Dhopave and Terekol-Arambol has the facility for carrying four wheelers.
However, as Konkan region is developing very fast nowdays, new Ferry services might have started on other sections. The Port Offices will have more accurate and up to date information on that. Anindya |
