Exclamation Mumbai to Goa Cruise !!

I am not sure if this is the write place for this thread or not, but unfortunately, didn't find any other appropriate category.

I was searching the net for one night cruise from Mumbai to Goa at end of this month. However only thing that comes up is Star Cruises. On their own website they don't have any details of Indian sectors, however other travel sites like journeymart, travelmasti etc have details of their cruises.

What I wanted to know, is it the only company that is organizing these cruises in India and how reliable it is ? Has someone used their services ?

They unfortunately do not have any cruises scheduled for end of this month or October starting. What other options do I have in sea transport between Mumbai-Goa OR Goa-Mumbai ?

They are the only option available.

Yes, they are the only option. A catamaran was started a few years ago by Damania but didn't take off; monsoons were a problem plus Indian tourists were not used to seasickness.

A couple of decades ago there used to be two Moghul Lines ships plying this route, but no more.

Star Cruises will be a very expensive way to travel. They are not top of the line, but it will be a decent, if short, experience.

.

I traveled on one of these old ships from Goa to Mumbai (might be 1986) with my parents. I still remember....that was my first sea journey and enjoyed it.........we slept in the low-cost lower deck......that was a nice experience. The ship was fully loaded with passengers.....it took approximately 24 hours to reach Mumbai......the food was good.........I feel very nostalgic thinking about that journey. Alas, that good old ship was stopped. I dont know why, but a lot of passengers took the sea route those days.

In the late sixties I had travelled by the ship from Mumbai to Goa & back. Yes in those days the ship used to be full. That was probably due to inconvinient train connection involving a change in Miraj. Now with Konkan railway hardly any body except some tourists would spend 24 hours to reach Goa.

How long would a cruise from Bombay to Goa take anyway? Would arrival port in Goa be Panjim?

Arrival would be at Murmagao, about 4 km from Vasco.

Direct, I reckon it would take about 15/18 hours steaming time, though some passenger ships may go a couple of hours faster.
