can someone tell me how get bikes transferred from Mumbai to Delhi safely without having any dents on the bike..

we friends are planning trip in the month of June and there will be 4 bikes...3 Karizmas and one R15.

But we dont want to rent any bikes and want to do it on our own wheels.

but everyone is paranoid about getting the bike damaged.

BEST IS TO RIDE TO DELHI USING NH 8

Most Road is 4 laned

It will take 3 days to Delhi with ease

By Transportation It will take also three days

Half day for going to station & Pack Book

Half day to collect it

Transportation can be By Rail OR Transports

But Best Way Ride & ENJOY NH 8
One of the most good road of India

Mojogirl, some guidelines if you are planning to take train ride :

1) Get confirmed reservation ticket.
2) Try to board train at originating station if possible ..as at intermediate stations train will halt for only few minutes & its difficult to load bike in such condition or luggage compartment might already remain full.
3)Boarding at originating station will give you plenty of time to load your bike & certainly you will find space for your bike in luggage compartment. If such boarding not possible at least make sure you are boarding at some big junction where train will halt for at least 10-15 minutes.
4)Drain you bike empty & also remove rear view mirrors before going to train station for packing .
5) Go to station at least 4 hours before scheduled departure of train . Visit Cloak/Luggage room for booking your bike.
6) Most probably you'll find some person there who'll pack & load your bike in train .
7)Negotiate hard & get assurance from him that your bike will be loaded in same train & on same day on which you traveling. Preferably get bike packed & load from same person ....& tell him you'll pay only after bike gets loaded in train.
8)Packing charge for bike is usually Rs. 200-300 which also includes material required for packing & for loading charge varies between Rs.100-200 .
9) Do book bike as luggage & not as parcel .... goods booked through parcel can be retrieved only during limited working hours(day time)....while goods booked through luggage can be booked & retrieved anytime 24/7 .
10) For getting bike booked as luggage you need to show your train ticket ,submit photocopy of RC book (registration) of vehicle to authorized railway personal at cloak/luggage office.
11) Fare will depend on distance of train journey, weight of bike (usually considered as 200 KG) + value declared while booking. Say if you quoting price of bike as RS. 40000 then you need to pay additional Rs. 400 as insurance fee while booking ...but if you declaring value as Rs. 10000 then you'll pay only Rs. 100 extra.as insurance. After booking you'll be issued receipt which you need to show at destination station to claim your bike .
12)Only empty -tank vehicle can be booked & its illegal to carry petrol in passenger compartments ...what here you can do is carry small amount of petrol 500 ml or so...hidden deep inside your luggage in smell proof & dark color bottle this way you can reach to nearest fuel station after getting down at destination station.(& please don't remove bottle & pour petrol in front of railway personals at the station for obvious reasons)
13)Some private operators do have leased bogie(this is other than Luggage compartment) in some trains where space in bogie will be reserved only for that operator ...you may contact such operator & can get bike loaded safely without much to worry about bike getting damaged.... however this will be more expensive than booking bike as luggage.
14)Usually bike get damaged in train journey due to overloading in luggage compartment... so best way is to pack properly & load bike early(before they start to load any other luggage in compartment) & if possible book in leased bogie.
15) Claiming your bike back:
I] At destination station your bike will be unloaded from train within couple of hours (max) .You need to show receipt to railway personal who looks after goods while they being unloaded. He will make entry of receipt, will cross verify details with nos. mentioned on bike packaging & will sign on receipt.
II] After this you need to go to octroi post (if any … usually located near parcel office) at railway station & show them your receipt & vehicle documents .They will sign & issue NOC stamp on receipt .(this will certify no tax is required to pay - as vehicle is not new ,already registered to somewhere else & not brought for selling purpose).Sometime you might be able to skip this whole step.
III] Submit this receipt & your ticket in cloak/luggage office here you’ll be issued gate pass (3 copies). One will remain with luggage office, one for you & third one you need handover at checkpost while exiting from station.
IV] After this you can unpack bike, fill up petrol, attach rear view mirrors & proceed towards further journey….

16)If you transferring bikes only for Leh touring & going via Manali - Leh route then you might want to consider train Paschim Express (2925) departing from Bandra Terminus 11:35 AM - which will directly get you to Kalka(foothills of Himalaya on Himachal Pradesh border)...so instead of Delhi you can travel a bit further in train & can unload your bikes at Ambala Cant./Kalka .
17)If you intend to go by Sringar - Kargil - Leh route then Swaraj Express(2471) is best option. This train runs every Monday,Thursday,Friday & Sunday from Bandra terminus-Mumbai departing 7:55 AM & reaches Jammu-Tawi on next day at 2:40 PM .

I'll go with Swapnil's post..very detailed and right.
However you can also cargo it on train but expect it to arrive few days later after you booked it and may be badly handled.
I used to take off the most breakable items like indicators, rear stop light, side view mirrors, etc.

Red face need helppppp

even i need to move my bike from Aurangabad to Pune around 240 kms only and will take around 5.5 hrs by bus including half hour stoppings , highway is good, im asking mom to allow me to drive wit frnd taking turns but she telling put in movers n packers ,, im not interested in movers packers coz de will only accept if some consignment of theirs is going to pune,, else only for my vehicle de wont accept,, so dont know when it will be done. also railway parcel is too headache and if u literally see if my bike trip goes right its a 125 cc super splendor and the 240 kms ride aint gonna cost more than 200 bucks,,, and also heard that people at pune rly station are cheaters , they deliberately put petrol worth 10 - 13 rs in ur bike n then ask u to pay fine,, telling it was present in the bike,,

such cheaters r there, so im thinking best to hire someone to drive my bike from aurangabad to pune n pay him back ticket n give some 100 - 200 rs,,,,

Not everyone is a cheater ...btw how they gonna put petrol in your bike if key is with you ?
Alternatively You can also consider traveling by VOLVO(B7R coach)& putting bike in huge luggage compartment under belly of bus. Most likely they'll charge fare for one extra passenger to book it as luggage.
