don't worry he has me to keep him on the straight and narrow,

but a very amusing thread. Most bikers are used to not having a handy sink

Riding in May/June?

What do you guys think of a 2 week biking tour in the Himalayan region in late-May/early-June? Will the weather be reasonable?

Thank You!

Hey Hippie!

Let me congratulate you first of all for putting up an amazing well detailed post. I have read each word of your post, and believe me I am not the kind of person who does that.

It was a great effor on your part and I gladly rate it as one of the best on motorcycle riding. It covers just about everything one needs for a ride.

Thank you again and keep posting!

Cheers!!

Thumbs up Treasuretrove of information!

[quote=Hippie at Heart;85077]Number of times I have seen motor bike riders stranded up there in Himalayas for want to many ideas about how they should go around doing things the right way there. That may result in a rather frustrating experience. So I am trying to put few thoughts forward or what little I have gained from experience. It may serve some good.

Hippie at Heart,
I'm planning a motorcycle trip next year to the same area and your post is a treasure trove of information. (Yes, I read the whole thing) I will print it out to use as my personal travel bible. Many thanks for the many hours of research you have saved me!!! Much obliged

Choice of bike

Hi all!
I'm probably off to Spiti in a week's time or so (if I get my visa), and will be staying there for 2-3 years (with mid-winters coming down to Delhi).
At home (Sri Lanka) I've been riding a Bajaj Avenger and am considering buying a similar one for India.
Is this a reasonable choice for the HP roads?
I do notice that the standard tires have a pretty rounded road profile, excellent for good roads, but not so 'gripping' on bad roads. Are there any more 'off-road' types of tires to be advised that fit on this bike?
Appreciate your feedback
