Thumbs up to Hippie at heart

My son bought a new Indian motorcycle and rode it from Srinagar, Kashmir to Kovalum, Kerala. He had a great time, it took him one month. And he went alone. Had no problem.

HAT !
You are great..have done a good job to write in so detail...I used to do like you...when I used to be a solo adveturer..but as soon as I become pro...soul misses and now I am not going to the mountain for myself...feeling suffocated sometimes..but this is how life is...
Trying to Plan a big circle route in september-hope we will be able to make a team...

Hi

It's been interesting reading everyone's posts. I'm planning a trip IN March/April 07 and looking for used Enfield Bullets to hire or buy. We're flying into Chennai so anywhere near there would be best. Does anyone have any recommendations?

Dear Everybody,

I have been trying desperately to find a place (or someone!) in Delhi from where (who) I could hire a scooter. A 50cc would be desirable as I am not sure if I get my drivers' licence by the time I arrive. (late november) Could you please advise/assist?
Thanks in advance!

smallest capacity scooter available in India is Kinetic kine 71.5cc. If you dont have a international license then you will be in trouble whether your ride a 71.5cc scooter or a 500cc enfield! for info regarding renting a motorcycle/scooter check out this link http://www.bcmtouring.com/forum/viewtopic.php?t=157

Hi, this is context with the initial post by H.A.T.

I too went on my 100cc Hero-Honda Splendor to Spiti in Nov.06..

..went by my self, starting the touring in Uttaranchal in Rishikesh.. ..moving towards Chamba, Dhanaulti, Yamuna Bridge, Chakrata, Tiuni before crossing over into Himachal at Hatkoti..

..went a little futher up that valley to Chirgaon via Rohru.. ..but had to head back to Rohru due to rain that went on & on...

As the weather cleared, headed for Rampur in the Sutlej valley, via Sungri.. ..and then went up the valley as far as Khab.. ..and then along the Spiti river to as far as Nako.. ..and that was in mid-nov.

the reason i mentioned some of the places along the route, was cause as I was mentioning them I was reliving the trip..

..now since I've come back, and joined office my bike has not been riden for except when I took it to get it serviced..

..you wrote so long a post, I too had to write an equally long reply.. ..

I suggest that there is not need to carry huge currency. A debit card or credit card can solve the problem. All you had to know is which region is having ATM.s
LAHAUL & SPITI are not having ATM's but in MANALI and SHIMLA you can have ATM's for withdrawls. ATM is also available in LEH.

Hi.. some info needed here..

is a can costing 350bucks good for mending just..

(1) one puncture one tyre-tube

(2) multiple punctures one tyre-tube

(3) more than that i.e. one puncture each in multiple tyre-tubes..

you said it holds 40 psi of air-pressure. does that mean that if i fix one pucture and fill up the tyre-tube to 30psi of air-pressure, what's left of the can is capable of producing just 10psi of air pressure, in other words the can is only good for one-time-use; or does it in someway revitalize itself in some time to turn good for use again?
