Manali to Leh by motorcycle
Dear all
I am due to do the trip up to Leh as of the second week of August and return the last weeks of September. I have travel over land from the UK on my 1150GS BMW and this is the section that I am most looking forward to. Can antone give me advise/details of the road conditions and the time that the passes open/close. Any help will be greatly appriciated. Many thanks Stuart |

Hi Stuart, welcome to Indiamike.
Manali - Leh highway is fantastic, few smooth stretches and lots and lots of broken up roads and five high altitude passes, a dream ride for any tourer. On the other hand Srinagar – Leh highway is almost like a racetrack, super smooth and wide roads. Passes should be open till mid-late October depending on the weather, apart from that there is nothing you got to worry about.
