Suggestions on how to get to Allepley from Kochi airport.Arriving at midday and Allepey hotel advises unable to provide transport. How much should a taxi cost. Is it better to get prepaid? Don't mind paying resonable fare. (please define reasonable cab fare)

Thank you Vandy for the helpful info. Will take the taxi and enjoy the ride 1200rps= AU$30 3hr cab fare, which is inexpensive compared to a 40mins/2oklm/$55=2200rps cab fare to Sydney airport. Contrast adds meaning.
Cheers

Happy to help,

I allways use the same comparison when in India.

If you have the time try and do a Country Boat trip whilst you are in the backwaters, you won't regret it,approx 300rps per hour
for the boat (not each person)3hrs is ample. Will take you into the smaller canals where the Houseboats are unable to go.

Thanks again Vandy for the advice. We are planning to do the 2nights/3day houseboat trip. A country boat trip could also be a worthwhile option. By the way I noticed your Australian profile (and also another cricket tragic) do you think it is worthwhile or recommended to take any Aussie dollars to India? Will definitely be using ATM's but in light of the strong Au$, I was wondering if there is any posssible financial benefit.
PS Congratulations on the overnight cricket result-grrrrrrr

Hi nicola1,

Yes cricket tragic is an apt description.

and yes I would take some cash as a back up, just in case your card gets swallowed by ATM,or ATM is Down,I took 500 as backup.
When converting cash use only Legit money exchangers.
