Khajuraho-Satna-Varanasi

I am about to book my rail ticket from Satna to Varanasi and would just like to get some feedback on how long the road journey takes from Khajuraho to Satna by either bus or taxi.
I am unsure whether to book the 11.50am or 1.15pm train as I don't want to miss it!
If anybody has a rough idea of how much a taxi would cost for this trip as well, I would be really interested.

The distance between Khajuraho and Satna is about 125 kms. A taxi/Jeep will take about 3 hours. I don't know the current cost for the taxi trip as I had travelled long back. Going by the distance, I guess, the cost may be around Rs.1500/-.

If you are to catch a train, book the 1:15 p.m. one and take a car from Khajuraho to Satna. Buses takes 4-5 hours (local buses) and I am not sure if there are any from Khajuraho in the morning. Normally, I found buses from Satna going to Khajuraho in the morning and then returning in the evening. Bus cost will be much less. Rs. 65 for Satna-Khajuraho. Howeever, if you come down to Bamitha by local trekker service from Khajuraho, you can get Chattarpur-Satna buses, but might not get a seat and have to stand. It is better to enquire about it at Khajuraho bus stand about the bus services.

Hi Bhaswaran - thanks for this. The only disadvantage of getting the later train is that it is arriving into Mughal Serai instead of BSB but it is only 45 minutes later arriving than the 11.50am and for memory Mughal Serai is not that much of a drama to get from.
I think the taxi/driver idea is much better - I am taking my 65 year old mother with me and the thought of her standing on a bus for a few hours is not appealing!

In that case I would strongly recommend you to hire a taxi from Khajuraho and start early, say at 6-6:30 a.m. and reach Satna by 10-10:30 a.m. Tell the taxi driver to drop you at the station and you will have the train at 11:50 a.m.
